With the River Walk, Alamo, and Convention Center nearby, it is an easy stop to make part of a day out or a weekend away.

Grain Selection
Texas corn, rye, hard red winter wheat, and malted barley — chosen for what each grain contributes, not what it costs.
Milling
Whole grains, stored and hammer-milled on site.
Distillation
Small-batch runs, cut by hand, in full view of the tasting room.
The Vault
Barrels rest in the Lockwood vault beneath the building — or the Fowler rickhouse on the ranch.

The Mavericks Origins Experience
Step inside Maverick’s historic home and discover the story of Samuel Maverick, the legacy behind the name, and how it continues to shape the distillery today. Tour the Lockwood building and working distillery, then finish with a guided tasting of four Maverick spirits that brings the history, grain, and craftsmanship together in the glass.
Whiskey Wednesday's at Lockwood
Join us every Wednesday in the Lockwood Saloon for a guided whiskey experience led by bar manager Michael Phillips, with a new topic to explore each week. From tasting and blending to history, cocktails, barrels, and technique, no two Whiskey Wednesdays are quite the same.
Lockwood Vault Experience
Go beyond the tasting room with a guided journey through Maverick’s working distillery, from a handcrafted welcome cocktail to a barrel sample drawn straight from the vault. Finish with a guided flight of four Maverick whiskies and discover the craft behind every bottle.
Make a Day of It
Add a tour or tasting to a day near the River Walk and Alamo, make it part of a date, or bring friends somewhere they may not have discovered yet. Maverick is close to the places people come to see, but the experience itself feels distinctly local.
In town for a conference? We are also close to the Henry B. González Convention Center, giving you an easy reason to step beyond the convention floor for a while.

Your Maverick experience does not have to end with the tour. Visit the Distiller’s Lounge for a relaxed drink near the distillery floor, or head upstairs to the Lockwood Saloon, a distinctive bar in downtown San Antonio serving cocktails made with Maverick spirits.
